XF 1.4 Remove posting ability outside of forum

Hey,

I've got 2 forums within a forum. One called Competitions and one called Races. I want members to be able to post in both forums but not just inside the original forum called Competitions & Races.

It's easier just to say, can I remove the stuff in the red box while still allowing people to post in both forums.

Competitions & Races should be a category, not a forum.

Otherwise you can revoke the posting permissions for that forum for the Registered user group and allow it for the other two forums.

Would it be possible just to hide the content?

It just looks weird there in this case.

If you are not going to add any threads to that forum you should replace it with a category instead, even if you hide the buttons with CSS members could access them through the direct link http://example.com/forums/forum-name.id/create-thread, or simply disable making thread by usergroup level permissions.

Yeah, I did that but it looks like this which doesn't look very neat.

If I turn it into a category, it will take up more room on the forum list. The reason was to neaten up the homepage.
