We can have redirects for moved threads, bt not for posts.
This is the scenario:
In the middle of a thread somebody makes a large, useful but slightly off topic post.
In that situation I move the post to its own thread as it will get good responses that possibly go more and more off the original thread topic.
However its content still has some relation to the original thread and also a redirect would make a good placeholder as well for the moved post (there might be quotes to that post later on). The two threads with different but related information have some connection.
Granted, you could just copy the post to a new thread instead of moving and leaving a redirect, but then you'd have responses to that post in both threads which would be confusing.
