As mentioned on another thread, I've closed one of my forums down and just left the home page up as an information/articles page. The forum is "turned off" and not visible and all nodes set to private.
Anyway - it occurred to me it could still be useful to look at Google Analytics now and then just to see how many people were visiting the page, and it shows a lot of 404 errors. Presumably google is trying to search the forum pages which are now private. Also presumably this could affect the google rating. So do I need to set up some kind of redirect to prevent the 404 errors.
I'm a bit confused about that because the home page is the .com web address, and that's live. The forum pages were .com/forums
So presumably it's searching .com and only getting the home page and any other pages giving errors?
