I would recommend moving one of the fans but keeping the same basic principle and for this reason.
With both in the same window you are bringing fresh air into the mix but it is the moving the air across your body that will really cool you down. In the same window much energy is wasted because of the percentage of air just doing a loop in front of your window rather than acting like an efficient exchange and most importantly it is not bringing the moving it across your body.
For instance if you leave your bedroom door open, have the fan blowing out in there and put a fan in another room sucking in you create a wind tunnel of sorts out of the path. To boost the efficiency of that flow you can close other doors in the home and jam a towel in at the space beneath the doors which are closed.
This wont do so good during the day but at night when it is cooler it will help you tons...when I lived in the ghetto and hand no money for anything 2 fans was all I could afford to run unless I wanted to not have a computer.
The other option is the super ghetto air conditioner (swamp cooler) which is basically, fill a strainer (screen type) with ice & suspend it over a catch basin , then have a fan blow across the ice at you , it is not pretty and if done wrong completely unsafe...but when I lived on a second floor that hit over 100 in the house and had horrible insulation from the attic, it was the only way I could sleep.
