XF 2.2 Quote added to multi quote will not paste - gets error

Well-known member
Everything working fine then suddenly I cannot add highlighted text quote to a post. I get Opps error. However

It works fine if I just use reply.

Just prior to that I'd been using multi quotes in the same thread perfectly fine...
