I searched for some info on this topic but didn't see anything (or missed it).

I imported my members from a vB site. I had some members listed as "registered" and others as "inactive" which imported that way as their title.

I have these set up so that an inactive member has to make one post to return to being a full "member" and, for the registered title, they become members in three days.

What's happening is that it's adding them to the member subgroup but they keep their old title as their main one. Problem is, their permissions are staying with the old one.

What am I missing? Thanks.

It uses the display priority of the group:

Admin CP -> Users -> List User Groups -> [click a group] -> Display Styling Priority

After changing the priorities of your groups you might need to run this to update existing users:

Admin CP -> Tools -> Rebuild Caches -> Rebuild User Caches
