Lack of interest Prevent bogus duplicate reviews

Is there any mechanism in place to prevent someone to create duplicate accounts and post multiple positive/negative reviews on a product?
I imagine we can use a cookie to detect the same user? Put in a waiting period of several hours for a review to be submitted from the same machine/IP?

Well I doubt there would be such a check in the core feature. It's the same with forums. What's preventing people creating duplicating accounts and posting?
