When the Resource Manager was announced, I got the impression, based on what we saw at vB.org (not saying it's a role model by any stretch), that the comments/discussion would appear UNDER the published Resource. For this reason, it was explained that the original Resources forum would archived, all those old threads locked, and people would be free to recreate them in the Resource Manager.
Now the Resource Manager is here, and it seems that the comments/discussion are completely disparate from the Resource, with absolutely no connection or integration between a Resource and the discussion about it. I understand this may be a design limitation or choice, and I bet it will be a popular addon, but the justification for locking hundreds of useful threads, some of which were in the middle of trying to find answers, seems wrong to me based on how RM is implemented.
There are a lot of great mods out there, and some of them are created by folks who are great programmers, but not necessarily the best at providing clear instructions or tech support. That may not be a big deal, until you are talking about crucial "if it doesn't work, I can't use XF" things like the vBulletin 4 importer which is unofficial, unsupported, has shaky-at-best instructions, and yep, its main support thread got locked.
Is it possible we can get some of these threads unlocked and moved here?
