i could not find an actual list anywhere.....which exact, commonly blocked esp...functions are used?

spinning up a new test situation i kind of wanted to start from scratch..

Download the requirements test script and that will tell you if you meet the requirements:

If you're interested in specifics, the script itself will tell you which functions are being checked, but when we say "common" we mean very common functions like preg_replace (regular expressions) and json_encode (JSON handling)

Generally disabling php functions at random is going to make unexpected things break, often a very random times.
