Lack of interest Personalized content based on user preferences

It would be nice to be able to personalize content based on forums the user is interested in.

For example, if the user is mostly participating in forum "Sports" and never visits forum "Cars", his What's new section should not display threads about the cars at all.

The similar concept is present when you first register to Quora and some news mobile apps. They ask what topics are you interested in. This info is used for displaying content based on your preferences.

This can sorta be done, but not very smoothly.



If you use the Watched functionality, you could set up a Watched filter in What's New.

But this would also need an onboarding where watched forums could be selected.
