It's sort of a legacy feature that we've had for two forums (men and women only). They've been password protected for about 15 years so it's a lot of work to get that changed do user group permissions.
Yeah, I saw that one. I was hoping to avoid spending $35 if it was built in. I'm planning upgrade to 2.1 right now and just trying to avoid spending even more money.

No doubt that it is outdated. I'm not in favor of it as a new technology. The password protection it offers is minimal.
As I said, it's a time issue. With thousands of users and nearly 17 years of operating two specific fora a certain way it is just a matter of time and energy to fix it.
