Mike coded it from scratch using the countdown .js plugin -he hasn't used the add-on.

Yeah, it's basically XF with the entire front end ripped out.
Simple Portal will be able to do thiswould be great if we could get this template (or whatever that is) of that Homepage.
Especially if one has a "Private Community" and just wants to have some text, images and a Register-button at the Homepage.
I would be willing to pay for that.
