XF 2.1 notice: variable, first name

at the notice, I would like to show only the first name, but {name} displays the full name.
It is possible?

XF doesn't have first and last names, just a single user name.

Definitely not familiar with this. Is there a manual on this or anything? Or would I just have to hire someone? I am wanting to make the usernames First and Last Name. That is possible correct?

I thought it was related to user name validation on registration.

It would require custom development to have a first and last name defined variable.
