Cannot reproduce  News Feeds duplicated after upgrade

It seems like after every upgrade - the news feeder application (where RSS feeds are posted into a forum) freaks out and forgets where it last left off. I lost a ton of FaceBook users when my RSS Grafitti was overwhelmed with 100s of "new" RSS feeds from my site when in fact they were already posted six months earlier.

My Twitter account also re-posted "new" feeds which were old as well.

My Porta page reflected "new" threads which were six - seven months old.

I wound up going back and deleting hunderds of duplicated RSS news feed posts and then cleaning up my fan page....

Any ideas?

I have to say this isn't something I've seen, and I don't see why it would happen either. The only thing I could think of is related to the feed changing components that are used for duplicated handling (making the system think they're new).

What feed(s) are you using? Anyone else had this?

Just to clarify: "each time you upgrade" - does that mean it's happened more than once? The entries in that feed seem to have a straightforward guid value, which means that they should be quite unique. It's possible that they changed their URL structure, which would trigger that.

It's also worth noting that that feed in particular only goes back to Feb 17th. I'm assuming it's happening with all feed then?

Yes, when the news feed function was introduced... I added my feeds....
Then when ever I did an xf upgrade I noticed lots of older prior posted feeds - reposted.
You can see it first hand on Twitter - twitter.com/aquiacreek

Here is on example - all these - one after another after another when I upgraded....

Maybe they get reposted because I delete them - in an effort to clean them up?

No, nothing was changed here. I don't believe anything was changed in previous versions of XF, as it would've triggered for many more people then. I can still only guess that something happened in the feed(s), though I do understand that can be considered unlikely. If it happens again, let us know...
