XF 1.5 Newly Registered Members

Hey there, I was just curious to know why there's such a delay with the site recognizing that a new member has registered? I'm talking about the name updating in the sidebar. My former forum software was immediate, but with XF when a new member registers it takes quite a while for it to update.

Updating the forum statistics (including last member) is done on a slight delay to improve performance via a cron job.

Also, users only appear there once they have become a valid registration (approved by staff, email confirmation, etc).
