Add-on New/Updated XenQuotation

Unfortunately the author stopped maintaining it and it's lapsed. I'd really like to get an updated version working for 2.3 - is there anyone willing to do this?

Just a heads up I did get started with it tonight. I still have a few things to add.

I added ACP management page (CRUD in Admin). I didn't see anything in the images for this.


Still needed to be added.

• Likes/Reactions and counts
• Report integration
• Moderation queue and states (visible/moderated/deleted)
• Searcher for quotes
• BB code/button for easy insertion of quotes into posts
• Make templates look better than they are right now

The main ideas would be:

• Authors, attribution to more than person. E.g. some our quotes are discussions between multiple people:
  • Vekarin: I thought the fluff behind the Daemonettes was that they were supposed to seduce enemy soldiers, not make them stand back and say "Eewww...you look like my ex-wife!" Grish: Make it a point to never marry someone with a crab arm. Even IF she can open a jar on her own.
• We also do have some quotes from outside our forum, at the moment at the bottom of the quote we'd reference it in a way like "by XXX @ warseer" - not sure if there's a better way to handle this. Other forums who want this might have more quotes from famous people or something
• Integration with https://xenforo.com/community/resources/xb-badges.8456/ - if would be great if badges/awards could be given by members who have quotations
• An importer? I have all my old quotes currently saved in an excel file currently of which there are 182! Would be great if I don't need to manually add them back in

So, you want more than just one author? Maybe use a , between users?

Not sure about this either. Have to look at it closer once the addon is released and bugs are fixed.

I think this is a good idea. Will look into it more once the addon is released as well.

Good idea too. I will try to put this in right away. Care to donate your excel file (CSV)? Just for testing and gives me some full quotes to work with too. Already have the export to CSV. Why not an import as well.

I will PM you an extract on my quotes. The other suggestion possibly was context. On my old forum before XF when we had this working we had a random quote widget and it normally showed something like this:

So that would be:

• Quote
• Context (optional + smaller text)
• Author (smaller text)

If I the quote had multiple people like the one above it might look like:

So I would then manuall tweak the quote to add short names/initials so the back and forth makes sense. The context would be optional depending on whether it was needed for the quote to be understood.

I was working on this last night. Was adding some style properties to it. Have to finish that up.

The 2nd image in my above post was the public index/list of the addon. Still have a lot to add.
