Hi all,

Newbie here and need some help.

I just purchased Xenforo 1.5 version. I followed instructions from Brogan and successfully downloaded XAMPP (Windows 8). After installing XAMPP, I started MySQL just fine, but Apache is not starting for some reason. I click it but it gives me the error, and I cannot get into the "Admin". I'd appreciate some help please.

Thanks but how do I do that?
Confusing thing is this same thing happened at my office internet on one desktop PC and my home internet on completely different laptop PC.

Have a new problem.
After doing my own research, I found out that I just had to open the XAMPP as an administrator and I was able to start Apache and MySQL in the control panel.

This is what the log says now:

However, when I click on Admin button on Apache, this is what I get:

upload_2015-8-22_19-58-5.webp

I tried typing "localhost" in browser but same thing. I don't see "Security" tab anywhere to set up the password. Am I missing something?

I tried typing in user in the 1st box, then password on the 4th box
What next? I clicked each of the blank boxes but the page refreshes and everything goes back to blank.

I would recommend reinstalling, using a different XAMPP version, or, as previously stated, seeking support on the XAMPP forum.

It should be fairly straightforward installing XAMPP but there may be issues related to your OS, installed software, etc. so the best place to seek support is from the company which produces it.

Brogan,
You are awesome, I got this XAMPP to work.
I uninstalled and reinstalled a different XAMPP version as you suggested, this time one I found on CNET. And everything went smoothly. Now I got it installed and will be working on my forum. Thanks for your help though I suspect I'll have more questions to come.

After installing successfully, I have read the tips in getting started. But I now realize this may be too much for me to handle, and need help beyond just forum/support tickets.
Are there anyone here who I can hire? I would like some help creating the forum and learning the basics.
