Need help on formatting sub-forums grid

This is what I currently have (using Jaxel's changes to make the sub-forums appear in grid format).

There's a problem, though: The sub-forums aren't clearly evident as such, and they don't look very nice in general.




Below is how I want it to look like. I.e.

1. Remove the light green background from the sub-forum grid
2. Remove the upper line only from the sub-forum grid
3. This isn't as important, but would look nice anyway: Add mini-forum icons to the sub-forums in the grid.

Any help and tips will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I see that this method solves #3 (well, at least it gives the separate subforums bullet points), but it doesn't resolve #1 and #2 (getting rid of the background color and removing the topmost border).
