MyGallery - Feature Storm

I built a system for converting photopost into Zenphoto. If you are looking for some help, suggestions, or collaboration. Let me know.
I also built a xenforo theme and SSO for zenphoto.

core feature for me would be a new image upload or comment appearing in the whats new search.
Its a must have for proper integration.

public / private / followers / friends only albums.
cropping and other such editing tools.
upload from file / directory / url (grab a copy)

Thing i'd love to see: insert image from gallery into post (i.e replace the hotlinking functionality)

Very nice, I'll see about getting that out for alpha testing.

Everything but the cropping have been suggested, I intend to include them. Cropping and editing tools will take more digging.

PM me your paypal... :)

For me - what 8thos put on the first page.

I will compare UserAlbums... It's ok, but has a few things missing I'd like to see.

1. User categories. "User Albums" should fall under a seperate category "User Albums" then it should be broken down by user name - then it should be broken down by the albums the user builds.

Gallery
---> User Albums
-------> Administrator
------------> Family Pictures
------------> Website Tutorial Pictures

2. Central categories. After User Albums, there should be a way to allow users (or certain users) the ability to make a centralized subcategory. They should also be able to build a permission list on who can upload photos to this subcategory. Admins should be the only ones to make the main categories.

For example:

Gallery
---> User Albums
-------> johnsmith
-------> janedoe

---> 2012 (Admin only)
--------> July 4th (Created by johnsmith - but all users can upload to it)
--------> Christmas Party (Created by janedoe - janedoes has allowed johnsmith and bobcat the ability to add pictures)
---> 2011 (Admin Only)
---> 2010 (Admin Only)

The key being - the Gallery should be organized like the Forum.
If you open the base up (like above, 2012, 2011, 2010 - it will blow up)
So make sure only the Admin can add base categories - but then let the users go wild below them.

Similar to PhotoPost - "User Albums" would be an automatic base category.

Another item I liked was the popup box to insert uploaded photos into a forum post.

In VB, there was an add-on that inserted an addtional WYSIWYG icon that when clicked - popped open a window containing all the photos you have already uploaded. You could then insert a photos without having to upload it again.

perhaps the ability for it to scan existing threads and posts for images that can then be added somehow?

I used another forum which added forum attachments to the users photo gallery. It was a great way to get some substance into a photo gallery. I use quite a few photos and the last thing I want to do is add a photo to a post and then have to upload it to a photo gallery.

Having a button in the editor to choose a photo from the photo gallery is cool but rarely gets used.

If that's the way it's going to be set up then I'd like to see it as a node.

If it's set up like the forum but on the gallery page, that's one extra click I need to make to get to what I want to see. That was one of the drawbacks I had with photopost. Actually it's a drawback of most galleries.

I agree here.
I want it, but unless it's dead easy, people won't do it.
Note: you can already embed entire Xencarta wiki pages into posts.
If you made wiki items just images, you could embed images already.

One thing that would be easy is to easily be able to add images uploaded to the gallery.

Here is an idea for an addon gallery feature.
It would be nice if you could set categories to a "hot or not" mode, where weekly and monthly "hot images" are being presented.

Very nice layout, I will transfer this over to our discussion thread that me and the other dev have setup. This will make things quite unique.

robdog nailed this one. I'll pay double if you do this and you can quote me on it!
We ARE going to do this, if not we will find a way to do it. Shouldn't be hard though. I mean just requires each user have an album gallery they can pull up when making a post then insert that image into the post. Shouldn't be too hard.

In this case we would have the option to show the Gallery link in the forum listing and/or a nav link. Right now if we had it display as a forum then your index page would be sooooo long peeps would get tired of scrolling. LOL

We can do that and at the sametime have the gallery show already uploaded photos for use in posts.

Actually we're looking at this for an add-on module to the Gallery.

As I also mentioned - here is the VB version I referred to:

Perfect example.
