Hey.
I currently have a forum im in the middle of creating with mybb.
While I like the UI of mybb i'm running into issues of plugins being outdated, not working, or just no longer available, making it so most my time is spent plugin hunting than forum creating.

I would like to know if Xenforo has this issue? and if their is similar plugins to this list available for free with Xenforo.

Minimum Reputation 1.1
My Tabs 2.00
NewPoints 2.1.2 (Can't find a shop where users can spend earnt points)
Lottery 2.0
Purchase Credits 2.0.1
Points Stealing 1.1
OUGC Awards 1.8.33
ABP Restrict PM 1.2
Rex Shop 1.14
Slots 1.2
Style Usernames mybb1.8/ 1.5.0

The other things I would like to add to my forum is the options for users to pay for sticky and have a process that automatically puts that in place for x amount of time.
The other thing I find with Mybb is the support is very slow once you encounter an issue.

You can view the plugins here that might suit your purposes, and whether they are free or not:

The well known plugin makers have been around for years, so it's best to stick with those you see have a long history (click on their user name in the resources and then click the resources link to see the resources they've made and how far back they go).

Ya guys have read the author's post?
He asks for free plugins.
My respect to Xenforo I like the board very much, but everything you talking about is paid, the resources addon is 70$ reputation addons are between 10$ and 20$
In fact 99% of the plugins are paid.

My advice to author if he want a free good working board is to try Phpbb3, it's free, open source and has tons of free addons or for a smaller amount he can try Wordpress with WPForo and Woocommerce.
If you could be more detailed about what do you want to do with your board and those plgins you looking for I would be able to help more.

False.

Of the 2200+ XF 2 add-ons, a bit over 1000 of them are free. It would have taken you all of 1 minute to confirm this with the filters in the resources.

phpBB's importers are awful, and the project moves at a snail's pace, and it's a huge bundle of legacy code in dire need of a rewrite. It's a lateral move at best, not an upgrade to better technology. MyBB also has more active add-on development at this point.

wpForo's add-on's cost money for even the most basic features. Up front it seems great - until you want basic features other forum software have built-in: private messages, reactions, GIPHY support, polls, custom smilies, custom thread fields, custom user fields, etc. These are all paid wpForo add-ons. Suddenly the core wpForo costs more than the competition, while still having less features.

Thing is, XF has a bunch of stuff built in that neither phpBB or MyBB have, which you can assume will remain maintained. You might not be using them right now - but that may simply be because those platforms don’t have that functionality.

It is also true that pay-to-play plugins generally (though not always) stay better maintained.

Though if you’re looking at phpBB, do note that 3.1 isn’t the most current and I don’t know how many years they’ve been talking about phpBB 4, but what they have outlined - if they ever build it - will likely nuke most of the current addons and break compatibility anyway… (and many of the OG mod authors have moved on)
