XF 1.1 Moving hosts & Upgrading to 1.2

Currently my community are running on 1.1.3. We will be moving onto new hosting soon and I was hoping to upgrade our software at the same time.

I've not upgraded before so I will be exporting a copy of the database and all the content currently on the hosting we have - should I back up anything else in case of mishap?

Also, I was wondering what the best way is to upgrade current skins (I have some custom ones I have made but I based them on the Xenforo Default, so pressing the revert button will just destroy the skins entirely)?

Take a backup of your database before you do anything.

Move your installation to the new server (database and server files) and confirm it all works, then proceed with the upgrade.
