XF 2.0 Migrating hosts

I'm moving to a new hosting provider because reasons.

I'd like to rebuild the server from scratch since I inherited the current configuration, so I will know everything that was done to it,vand can document the process.

That said, is the best approach to set up a new install of XF, then import the existing site using XF 2 Importer?

I wouldn't recommend an import for a server move.

Just backup and restore the database and files.

So, there is not really any advantage to doing a clean install of XF since the version I have has been upgraded upteen times?

Can you just restore the database on top of a clean install? I assume I would have to reapply any template changes, but otherwise OK?

If not, then would you just install XF, restore DB, then restore /forum?

No advantage at all.

You don't need to install XF to do a restore.
