XF 1.4 Making Custom Title and/or User Group Title Optional

Pardon if this is in the wrong forum, but is there a way to allow the individual user to elect to show or hide their customer title and/or their user group title?

I have a situation where some people really like showing off the group they are in or custom title they've been given, while others ... not so much, and I would be able to please both camps if I could simply make the display an option.

You could probably do it with a custom user field.

And now that I've given it some more thought, I may have found an issue.

I want the users to be able to turn their usergroup title off to others as well as themselves. So if MemberA doesn't want all the other members to see his usergroup title, he would check a box accordingly. From what I'm gathering from that link, MemberA would only be shutting it off to himself and not the rest of the members. Does that make sense?

It would probably be possible using the various $user and $visitor parameters in conditional statements, assuming they are both available in the templates.

Ahh, that would make sense. I didn't realize you could pull in those params. I'll give it a go.
