Implemented Make Resource Manager Categories have User Group Permissions

It would be nice to be able to set user permissions PER certain categories.

Example:

Category A,B,C - All members can view
Category E,F,G - Only Premium members can view and download (and maybe perhaps allow all members to view but only premium members download)

Again, this is per categories not the entire resource manager.

I think if permissions come into the RM it would need to be per item. A Category which groups a topic can have easy, small items you'd want widely available, as well as quality stuff for premium.

So it'd be a default setting All View, All download.
Resource author if admin enables permissions on the RM) can select:

All View; EFG download.
EFG View, EFG download.

As lots of usergroups are often created for many things unrelated to this admin should enable which usergroups appear on this option set.

I think anyway that usergroups fall into 3 types:

Primary: Registered, Unregistered, Banned - very basic division on access to the board.
Secondary: Active1 Active2 Active3 ... - key groups; all Registered members have one of these. Gives standard functions and governs some basics like main hierarchy status title, Conversations.
Privileged: Moderators, Editors, Access to X - Extra abilities ,often in specialist areas or addons.

+1 Like I said in another thread, I'm making a game and I need the group "Testers" to be the only one to see the "Alpha Releases" category.

This would be greatly needed! Thanks :D

Per ITEM level permissions would be very useful when you want a specific group to do reviews for each item.
Say, you'd like to use a category in RM for reviewing a bunch of companies, each item under this category is for one particular company(profile etc.). You might have made these items viewable to all users, but you only would like each corresponding usergroup's members to be able to review his/her company - so you basically want only usergroupA members(CompanyA employees) be able to review CompanyA, usergroupB members(CompanyB employees) be able to review CompanyB, and so on.

Cases like this are where I'd prefer the review functions can be set at per ITEM level in RM.

There must be cases where download+review need to be set at per item level too...

(y) This would be very useful for 3rd party add-on developers that sell separate add-ons. This way we can limit downloads for a specific categories to specific user groups that own a license to the add-on.

We've got the perfect solution for you :)

I have the same problem. I would like something like this

+1 much needed functionality...; per item ; separate permissions for upload and download(and review);

+1, I'm running a magician's forum and would like to use it to download tricks for the usergroup magician only
