Link Directory (LD) [Deleted]

I cannot replicate, but am unable to approve links from moderation queue (but can do it from LD's inline moderation and "Approve Link" hyperlink for the entry listing). Approving links from the moderation queue and then approving the links fails (moderation queue page refreshes, still showing unapproved link) with the following in Server Error Logs ...

As soon as I make a page reload as admin, all unapproved links are automatically approved. As well as clicking on the "Moderation" Tab in the admin user bar at the top of the page. And beside the automatic approval, it does not leave a mod log entry.

Interested in other admins thoughts on likes vs ratings?
Do you allow both, or just one? If just one - likes or ratings? If both - do you think that allowing likes constrains users from giving ratings?
I'm not convinced that the average user recognises they can rate a link, or how to do it.

I've set usergroup permission of "Can Like a Link" to No for everyone, effectively removing the ability to like links (I want to use ratings only) and no links have likes.
But sub-nav items for Recent Likes, and Most Likes are still available. Order By sorting with Likes too.

Rating for Unregistered works now! Please test it on xenMade.com
Ratings from different visitors are seen as the same user, thus if visitor A rates a link and then visitor B rates the same link, the rating will be modified and still only 1 vote recorded. (I used browser incognito windows for testing this)
Not sure if this is the planned/desired behaviour, but I wonder if it's best not to allow visitors to rate/vote until there's a reasonable method to uniquely identify visitors whom rate/vote, eg. by setting a cookie or something?

i have added a bunch of links for anyone whos thinking about getting this check out my directory ...

still have small CSS error , the back ground doesn't move down with the side bar

this seems to be a CSS-issue with the "Style" you are using.

Add a "background"-color to your CSS and the issue is fixed:

.mainContainer .mainContent, .mainContainer_noSidebar {
background: #22282f url("styles/tactical/tactical/content-bg.png");
border: medium none;
box-shadow: none;
padding: 42px 0;
}

@au lait
In the previous version only some links could not be rated.
In the latest version all links cannot be rated over here. I've cleared the browser cache and tried in the default Xenforo skin, but the problem remains.

edit: Moron me missed the authorization... going to sit and cry in a corner now...

as I have said previously, I think there should be other items positioned within the "SubNavBar".
Items which actually make sense to be located there.

Example:
https://xenforo.com/community/threads/link-directory-ld-paid.105024/page-12#post-1028236

As it is currently, having the items e.g.: "Recent Likes", "Most Liked", "Most Visited", "Most Ratings" in the "SubNavBar" makes little sense.
Also, have a look at "Recent Likes" in the "SubNavBar" and see where it is linking towards (it is linking to the LD-Homepage).

Once again, lets collectively think about which items really make sense to be listed in the "SubNavBar" and which items actually do not belong there ("Double Dipping").
Compare it with the items which are being used in the "SubNavBar" of the "RM" and the "Media Gallery" and maybe make it somehow similar (as far as possible) ?

Let's do some creative "Brainstorming" all together and figure out what makes the most logical sense.

what you are asking for, are extremely customized "Style Designs"-requests.
I would suggest you ask your "Style Designer" (the person who designed your "Custom Style") to help you out on this one.... or you just try to do it yourself with some CSS.

dear au lait sir,

#1 i also would like what erich says,
a "new links" tab in the "find-new" page,
with a sidebar block on the forum_list, "new links" and if i click on it , it takes me to the "find-new"

#2 Please make option grid view even
Capture.webp

#3 Numbers are confusing, Please make rank

i see numbers but they are not in correct order,
now i understand,

i want to see which link is #1,

example
Capture.webp

---edit---
ok for #3, now i understand, if i pick "sort by date/ascending" then i can see #1
#1 is first link submitted,

before i think it is the best/most popular link,
so when i click on: https://xenmade.com/linkdirectory/

i was expecting to see #1, because it is the "top link"

ok , strange..

Sorry to say, but I disagree with this one.

The issue with this "even" is that you do have different image-sizes.
Once you convert all uploaded images to the same size, the images are getting blurred.

You can already see this effect when you go to the LD and view it in "List View".
Because all images in "List View" do have the same "size" (height and width) now, the images are all blurred.

Generally speaking:
having an image-focused website with blurred images does not really look very professional.
There is a reason why Pinterest is designed as it is.

And yeah, the images at the official "XF Media Gallery" are also blurred. It is just wrong design and looks crappy.
Most coders do not understand design and visuals.... and vice versa.
