Link Directory (LD) [Deleted]

#3 Numbers are confusing, Please make rank

i see numbers but they are not in correct order,
now i understand,

i want to see which link is #1,

example
View attachment 127612

---edit---
ok for #3, now i understand, if i pick "sort by date/ascending" then i can see #1
#1 is first link submitted,

before i think it is the best/most popular link,
so when i click on: https://xenmade.com/linkdirectory/

i was expecting to see #1, because it is the "top link"

ok , strange..

this is just the "Permalink", exactly the same as here at XenForo.com when you look at the "Number" for each Forum-post (at the right-hand-side).

This is not a "Rank" of any sort.
The "Links" are being ranked by "VIP", "TOP", "NEW", Star-Ratings, Number of Likes, Number of Clicks, etc. via the Filter.

If you want to, you could re-name the wording/phrase of these numbers towards "Share".

:)

However, this brings me to the idea that we might be able to "customize" this "Permalink-Number".
Meaning: give Admin the ability to set/define a certain "Permalink-Number" for a certain "Link", e.g.: give the "Permalink-Number" 888 to a certain Link.

oh i see, it's permalink, how weird,

dear au lait sir, here is another idea

Capture.webp

or maybe

rank is determined by admin, default "order by"
.

Question:
by which criteria do you want the Admin to order the Links ?

BTW: please have a look at the "VIP-Links"... and you will understand of how the system works.

:)

its the admin choice, there is already a choice in add-on options,

2.webp

it is up to admin to choice,

more suggestions

dear au lait sir,

I want to make my default "Order by: "Rating"

If I understand correctly.... you want that the "Link" will change its "position" in the Link-List, based on "Rating" ?
This is already build-in into the LD-system, when you sort by "Rating".

But in addition to the current system, you want to show a "Ranking Position Numbers" next to each Link.
Some sort of "Link Rank" or "Page Rank" or "Top 100 Links".
Nice idea (y)

Found a bug in the Search Results. In the Search Results the wrong Prefix is shown. This issue occurs in my UI.X skin and the default Xenforo skin:

Example of a Prefix used in the Link Directory:

The Link as a Search Result shows the wrong prefix.

Suggestion - please have the ability to set a default author of the links.

Also please create different div classes for each info that is displayed so they can be styles via css.

I have a list of links that for some reason I need to check basically every day. I see nothing wrong with these links and the page speed is not that bad.
The links that need to be checked do not show up in the Link Directory. If the check is not 100% I suggest to keep the link visible in the Link Directory instead of hiding them. Or even better make it an ACP option to Hide these links YES / NO.

These are some examples:

http://www.freewebs.com/hamiltoncatclubinc
http://www.freewebs.com/patchedcats/
http://www.freewebs.com/toscanz/

This morning I processed a set of links in (mainly) South America that also keep popping up. I will put those in tomorrow.

I have tested it at xenmade.com and it is actually so that "No Prefix" is being shown in search-results.
It is not as you say that a "Wrong Prefix" is being shown.

Please confirm.
On my forum the the wrong prefix is show. I've put the screenshots in my message.
To make it more specific, I use the same CSS for both regular Xenforo prefixes and the Link Directory. See screenshots:

The prefix shown in Search Results is a prefix defined in the regular Xenforo Prefixes. It is a prefix I have not defined in Linked Directory. I.e. I think the Search Results grab the prefix from the regular Xenforo Prefixes and not from the Link Directory. Just my 2 cents...

Custom CSS in Link Directory:

yeah, that could well be..... since @au lait did not yet introduce "Prefixes" shown in "Link Search Results".
I am pretty sure he will introduce this missing feature in the next release.

I also have links that stay in the "Links that need your attention" There is nothing wrong with them.

I noticed the / behind the url can make a difference. It fixed some of them when I removed the /
