This is hard to describe here because english is not my native language. Nevertheless, a try.

Our social forums are located in an area that may be uncomfortable for the state - even in Germany. So we already had requests for issuing IP addresses that we could refuse because we do not store IP addresses in any way.

Until then, this is also possible with Xenforo. Now comes here in addition that our moderators are not a well-known team, but individuals who want to reveal as few information zones of themselves. Although our moderators were able to see the IPs of logged in users under vBulletin - as long as they were logged in, the IPs of other moderators were all hidden, only the admin could see them.
This should now be possible again because our moderators urge it.

What you do not have, you can not give out and what you do not know, you cant tell anyone :)

Perhaps this could be handled by a template modification that checks to see if the user is staff and then does not show their IP.
