XF 1.5 Leagth of Body Message

On are forum we have some big thteads and a lot of updates on threads in which the threads can become very long. I have members submitting tickets that they keep getting errors when they edit there threads and try to add more information and updates to there thread. It wouldn't be a big problem except for the fact that we have 100's of updates to threads weekly.

Again not finding a solution after searching.

I assume you are talking about users having issues with the length of their posts as opposed to thread length (which there is no limit).

To adjust how much text can be put into posts, use the Search in the top right of the Admin control panel for "maximum message length" and increase the number of characters to something more suitable for your site.

That could be the leagth of the title of there post. But members reported it was the leagth of there thread. I change the setting and update the members having trouble an see if they were talking about the title or subject line and not the content inside there thread.

The length of the thread is what someone would normally call the number of posts. I.e. the length of this thread is 4 posts once I submit this.

The length of this post is a few hundred characters.

It sounds like your users are confusing threads and posts. There is no thread length limit (it's only constrained by database size/performance and it'd be in the 100,000s+ posts). There is a post length (character) limit which can be adjusted with the maximum message length setting.

Hope that makes sense :-)

The exact text of the error message would help to identify what it is they are trying to do and what is preventing them.

It does sound like the maximum character limit though.
