TheVisitors submitted a new resource:

Kick banned user (version 1.0) - Send banned users to hell or wherever you see fit

This small template edit will force banned users to be re-directed to wherever you desire. In a since kicking them off your site.

Banned users will not be able to access your forum and create new user id's. Only after a ban is lifted and they clear their cookies then they will get access again.

In HEADER template add the following on top

I do something like this that I call Gay Banned. it used to boot them to the last measure shock site & changes their title to "Got the Gay". I always got a kick out of the title change because then everyone else in the thread that got them gay banned new that person was getting blasted w/ gay porn popups. these days I've toned it down a bit & just send them to meatspin. yes it's immature, but we only use for people who really deserve it.

FYI, i do not recommend you forward people to porn. I have to assume you could get in trouble for it.

No, I don't think I'd send anyone to a gay porn site. I think my harmless little message & music video is good enough.

What if the banned member clears his/her cookies can they access the site/register a new ID with being unbanned ?

What if they use a proxy ? Will using a proxy bypass this add-on ?

Now naturally, if someone clears their cookies my template edit will not help so much... Unless you banned their IP too, in which case they're still be patt of the banned group anyways and being logged in doesn't matter. But not everyone is so smart to do so.

To prevent people from joining with a proxy, I use this one

This one will help keep out spam, bots, and also AE's (alter ego's) ... ie .... Those who would attempt to register, assuming you didn't ban their IP address.
 
Hm.. isn't this a bit pointless? Banned members always clear their cookies to be able to access a site as a guest. Then they always can register other accounts. So this plugin basically aims to punish already punished people that aren't smart enough to clear their cookies, no?

To each their own :)

I typically ban via IP and not just user name (and e-mail). And with that other modification, most proxies are denied from registering.

But if there is a will there is always away. I find the combined two does help take the edge off.
