I need to modify a template directly as I cant use the template modification option for this change. After I edited the template, I was expecting it to show up under template modifications, but it does not. Is there a way to find out which templates have been edited directly?

They show up in a different color in the template list, though you can also search for templates that are customized under "search templates".

I dont see modified templates in template list. Is it possible that this is the case because I edited the Master Style?

Thanks. I guess I should never modify the Master Style then?

No. Modifying the master style is only for add-on developers who are adding templates. If you want your own "master" style, create one and place all your styles as children.
