Just noticed a big company using XenForo?

Strange, since Sony have always included the official forums for their first party titles in their official board (running Lithium).

BTW, most Sony website are horribly slow, so I am actually surprised to see one load that fast (not just xF, also their home page).

SOE actually switched from Lithium to a custom JForum build a few years ago. The switch was horrible and had glaring holes including leaving all their private boards open to everyone for a day or so while they fixed it.

Nice to see them moving to something stable and decent though :)

Still shows a backlink to lithium though, same with the EU version. Doesn't matter, nearly all Sony's Playstation web services are so horribly slow I don't use them. The blog is tolerable, but that is Wordpress VIP hosted.

That's Sony as in Sony Computer Entertainment, not Sony Online Entertainment.
His point was that most of Sony's studios use Lithium/JForum. The PlayStation forum for instance switched from Lithium to a lesser name forum software (possible Custom JForum as mentioned?) then back into Lithium again. So, when a Sony studio uses xenForo, it's a big deal because of what they're capable of doing....

The different units operate independent of each other, for the most part. Some forums are managed by us, others by third parties (e.g., Sony Electronics' forums are provided and moderated by Jive). Lithium used to manage and moderate most, if not all, of SCEA's (which includes SOE) forums, before switching to Jive, and back again. SOE has mostly gone with JForum, which are community managed. In other words, what I'm saying is there hasn't been an implicit switch, the software used has a lot to do with those involved with the project in question.
