I got a blender. Doesn't work so well. I now realize that juicers are different than blenders. Juicers separate the pulp from the juice.
I'm gonna have to buy a proper juicer online.

You need to get a higher end blender for it to do juicing well.

^ This. I know I've created some long posts but if you (Jake) read my post about breaking the cellulose walls up, you need a high end blender for that. While I think juicing is great, it just pisses me off how much stuff I have to throw away lol With the blender, you are putting the WHOLE food into it, which is how we were designed to eat them.
I also like juicing as it does give your body's digestive system a rest from digesting all that food (if you do a juice fast like on Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead). But in either case, you are taking steps towards a healthier lifestyle and should be proud of yourself

I have a masticating juicer, they are much better than those that rely on gravity/blades to juice. Nice and slow, grind the ingredients down to just the pulp. Awesome.

Might be worth checking out eBay for a juicer, many people will buy them on a health diet whim and hardly end up using much later. Selling on still like new dirt cheap.

I used to buy smoothies from the supermarket, then use a hand-held blender to break-down bananas and strawberry's into it and add some vitamin rich protein powder. Not exactly the same thing, I know. But they was good before heading off down the gym. Lost a few stone quick living on them for a while hammering the gym 4 days a week.

Yup, that's what I picked.
Blenderdude.com has good reviews on Blendtec and Vitamix. He said both are great, while one may have better aspects than the other for certain things, the other will have better different aspects to it. He said to buy whichever one went on sale first.
Luckily I got a free Wildside jar (also came with the regular 2 quart jar I think it's called), extra bucks off (I forget how much now) and free shipping with my blendtec. I think there are Ebay sellers right now giving the same deal...at least that was the case when my parents bought one a few weeks ago.

Many thanks for this thread Jake! I just bought a juicer today
I also wasn't sure whether I should get a blender or a juicer, as I think it would be better to also eat some of the fruit-pulps, not just the liquid? But I guess there is still some pulp in the fluid and you can still eat the pulp as well as it gets put into a separate container.
Anyway, I finally bought this model (as there were only 3 different models in the store and this one seemed to be the best of those available):

I received this juicer today. It rocks. Had two big glasses of juice today. I juiced lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, mushrooms, celery, apples, and strawberries.
