The team took census data stretching back as far as a century from countries in which the census queried religious affiliation: Australia, Austria, Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Switzerland.

They suggest that religion is going extinct in all the countries surveyed, including Canada.
In the good ol' USA, I think religion will last a couple generations longer than Canada.

The article is incorrect. The actually press release from CERN is that they're seen enough of the expected results to say they can infer that the Higgs boson probably exists, but no direct evidence.

How many sigma ?

4.9, so not 100% definitive. The biggest problem is that the LDC is a singular human achievement, so there is no way to get independent verification from another source.

Interesting, but not quite ready to accept this as fact yet.

I was watching this last night... and they said it will likely take another 50 years just to completely understand it, then replicate it into things where they control the particles precisely, ie. defeat gravity by floating and moving objects (space travel).
