Is there any protection for buying/selling of add-ons?

In the forum 'XenForo Resources and Add-ons', you can post a request for custom development and hire a freelancer. My question is, is there some kind of protection for the members? Suppose, I post a request, hire a freelancer, pay them and never hear from them again. Am I on my own when I am hiring someone? Just want to know how careful I should be when hiring someone for custom dev of an add-on. Thanks!

I can't see a way that you could guarantee protection from scams / lazy devs, what do you suggest?

Just use trusted developers that have a good track record

I understand that there is absolutely no way to have a completely risk free online deal. I was just wondering if XF has any measures in place. Like escrow or something. Only using trusted developers is a safe way to go, though.
