XF 1.5 Is it possible to use special characters only with Thread Tags?

Hi guys,

Is it possible to use special characters such as <,+, etc for thread tags?

I would like thread tags to consist of "<-+-" or "<+" or "<+~"

When I try to create a tag with "<+" I get the error message "Please enter a value for the required field 'tag'."

We don't generally allow symbols at the beginning or end of a tag as they are likely to increase the number of duplicates.

Thanks. It's a shame the forum admin cannot have a choice whether to enable or disable special characters in Thread tags. For example, my forum would return zero duplicates yet would make the tags invaluable for my forum's requirements. I would only be tagging posts whose titles contain those specific special character combinations.
