XF 2.2 Is it possible to extend Swift_Transport_StreamBuffer?

I'd like to disable SSL certificate verification for SMTP so I can use my own certificate.

Is it possible to extend /src/vendor/swiftmailer/swiftmailer/lib/classes/Swift/Transport/StreamBuffer/?

I am having trouble getting the admin panel to recognize the path.
