XF 2.3 Importing / Merging Multiple VB 4 Forums to 1 XF

Hi there,

Have been lurking for a while and have finally gotten down to putting XF through its paces. It meets all our requirements but I do have a question.

I have multiple old forums say a.com / b.com & c.com running on 4.2.

I would like to do the following.

Setup d.com with xf 2.3 when its released, with an "archive" category".
- Archives
-- a.com archives (forum id 1)
-- b.com archives (forum id 2)
-- c.com archives (forum id 3)

Questions:

1) Can we do sequential imports or a, b, c into d.com?
2) Can we specify categories to import into ... so the forum tree from a starts under forum id 1 etc?
2) Since XF allows login by email, can multiple users from a/b/c be merged into one user on d?

Thanks! Its literally been a 25ish+ year journey on vb.. apologies in advance if this has been covered multiple times (I could not find any answers).

Multiple imports can be performed into a single XF installation.
IDs can only be retained for the first forum however and imports are a one time thing - there is no "top up" functionality.

The forum structure is imported as is - you cannot specify where to import but you can move nodes/threads afterwards.

For accounts with the same name or email you will be prompted to rename or merge.

Thank you for the quick reply Paul.

Is there a default option where we can force a merge of user names by default if thats the way we want to go and keep the first username?

If the old sites are offline/not that active, i would suggest that right before import, set up the categories/forums how you want them to look on the new site. Move all the threads to a.com/forums/archive-a for example.

You can do it after, but IMO, it's cleaner if you do it first on the source.
