Import from VB/Photopost question

Would it hurt anything to run a import from an old VB Album gallery and an old PhotoPost database while the Xenforo forum is open?

Alternatively, is there any way to close XenMedia by itself while the import is happening?

Generally speaking, you should be ok. However, preventing people from posting content into the media gallery while importing would be safer, especially if you're going to choose to maintain IDs. You should be able to block most access by temporarily setting the "View media" permission to Never for registered and unregistered users.
