Implement AVIF image support

There was another suggestion from 2 years ago that was closed for lack of interest, included below for reference.

Now that all browsers and OS's have implemented AVIF support, and both Google and Apple have thrown their weight behind it, it should be considered for XenForo. Site loading times and performance would be improved, especially for styles that use JPEG or PNG backgrounds.

I'm encountering this issue at least few times weekly. "Image file type is invalid".

Thus we are entering into the same rabbit hole as was with the support of WebP.

Just add it instead of debating about it with your users for years.

It probably does make sense to support AVIF soon(ish).

According to caniuse:

WebP (already supported by XenForo) is at 95.92% user browser support.

AVIF (not currently supported by XenForo) is at 93.71% user browser support.

So we are talking about a difference of ~2% at this point.

The good news is XenForo has the image processing stuff abstracted out in a relatively tidy way, so whenever AVIF is added, it should be minimal work.

reducing is always good for seo, but a big mistake! you must create masterpiece for users, once they visit your forum, they must get impression to visit again! animated .gif .png high resolution keeps users stick with forum & somehow it does work!
XenForo is a fantastic in duet with imagick.
I was stupid to fit google search needs. you must create better content than your concurrents & forget about stupid google.

& double yes for AVIF
