Images (embedded vs. attached)

My understanding is an image can either be embedded in a post or included as an attachment to a post (hopefully this is correct).

I've have some forum members that embed images in posts that sometimes are very large...and I would like to reduce them in size (or adjust an XF setting to automatically control this).

I see in the XF AdminCP > Setup > Options > Attachments ...there's a setting for "Maximum attachment image dimensions". I'm assuming this is only for attached images. Is there a setting that controls the maximum size of embedded thread post images?

Yes I'm aware of that setting. Does that setting control the size of any image in a thread post?

My setting I believe is the default 1600x1600.

p.s. Is there a difference between an embedded or attached image in a post?

It will automatically resize images larger than what you set.

If I adjust this setting (make it smaller)...will it change the dimensions of images that are already posted on the site...or only new images that are embedded after the image size change?

My setting was 1600x1600...and when I checked the image in question...it was 740x1600. Thus it was conforming to the XF attachment setting.
