Fixed Image inserted at top of editor in Safari

Problem only exists in the mobile version, no matter which design since update to 2.2.7?
With tapatalk also correct.
Any idea?
Thanks

This is a real bug, fix it immediately. If you write text and then add a picture on mobile (atleast in iPhone), it always jumps on top.

Problem is only when using that insert image button on top, if you use attach files and add pictures that way they go where they are wanted. But most of my users use the button on top and there's no reason to break that simple functionality.

Unfortunately the fix is unlikely to be immediate. The rich text editor is a third party library. Ironically 2.2.7 fixed a fairly significant number of outstanding issues that directly affected iPhone users so for many users there's still potentially a net improvement despite a new issue seemingly creeping in.

If attaching via the Attach files button works as expected then that is the recommended workaround for now but we'll update this report if anything else comes to mind.

Hi

This is a major inconvenience for our forum users.

I see you are using https://www.froala.com/wysiwyg-editor v3.2.7 - which appears to require a commercial license. Can you not raise this with their support to get the issue resolved, assuming you are paying for a support contract?

I also see that the latest version of Froala is 4.0.5 - perhaps one of these recent releases fixes it already:

Thanks

The editor in use in XF is not just a drop in from Froala.
It has been heavily modified.

Every new release from Froala takes time to modify, test, etc. so XF will always be on an older version.

It's definitely odd that it's never the most updated version. Sounds like a pain in the arse to manage, though.
We tend to keep modifications to the Froala source code to a minimum but the editor functionality is heavily built upon inside our own editor.js file.

It's true it takes time though. And some of that is just testing, rolling back, waiting for fixes and so on.

We're currently on the newest version that we're prepared to go to at this stage which is 3.2.7. That was released in May.

The next versions after that are version 4. There isn't a great deal of new functionality in version 4 and we will start testing it soon but it may be safer to wait until XF 2.3 for that if the changes end up being extensive.

Thanks for the information.

However, this doesn’t answer the question - do you have a support contract with Froala? Can they help fix this issue (which frankly is a major annoyance for our forum users). Waiting for XF2.3 seems hard to sell to our users.

Thanks
