This is all quite disappointing for me considering I only recently purchased XenForo to create a forum. I quite like the software so far but I feel a lot of third party addon developers seem to have abandoned it. Also there is very little help or information around to fix things. A lot of the older tips, trips and fixes around customisation only work for earlier versions of XenForo.
There are a huge number of functions that are vital for community development. they are implemented on paper, as it were, but the updates never come out, and people wait for them for years. For this reason, people are irritated and tired of being fed "soon."![]()
Updates may take long, but what's the rush? Stable beats fast or updating for update sake.
Xenforo works very nicely. We aren't left with broken software to eagerly wait for a fix. No. Even PHP support is current, up-to-date (on that hamster-wheel of chasing those to stay with the supported version).
Life is good. Stay cool. It will all be fine.![]()
When you have a tight knit community, you absolutely can have comms like the one you posted in this thread. Everyone will understand and rally around you and XF. This is what community is about. Don't just create the software, be a community.I hear your feedback on communication. It’s difficult to post updates when there is nothing new to say, and I know that what you really want is consistent releases, not just words. But we are human, and life happens.
I think @dethfire was just trying to be nice and wanting you to engage more with the community like the old days. I think we all want you to. I don’t think he was coming across as rude. He just wants you to hang out with us more, and what comes from that is a tighter knit community.Did you miss the part where I said that I once I communicated on here that things were delayed because my daughter had been in hospital for several days and I was made to feel wrong for not putting my job and the "community" before that?
I appreciate that's by no means the view of most reasonable people but I'm sure from that you can understand the hesitation.

100% my intent was to be supportive. I am trying to convey the community is here for you and many built their own lives, passions and businesses in great part around xenforo. The more you include/comm with us, the more we can be supportive and go about our lives. I did miss that your family was in the hospital and I am sorry for that. It is also regrettable that anyone made you feel poorly about taking a step back. Family first, always, no questions.I absolutely know that @dethfire was not coming across as rude and I didn't take it that way.
