MS release cycle:

Pre-alpha = nothing exists yet IRL
Alpha = it's in pre-alpha for everyone else
Beta = could be seen as alpha, but a very rough one
Release candidate = almost reached beta realistically
RTM = some might consider this a beta, some RC
GA/Gold = should be seen as beta or RC, most likely a badly debugged RC, use at own risk

EOL= can be considered a stable RTM/GA (still use at own risk).

vb just released a minor update today. if there is an issue with their template, i bet another update would soon fix that. is there a thread here that is discussing the new development at vB? the message by one of their vice presidents? i need to check for it. because things are finally shaking up at IB! :D

It's just a standard maintenance release. Now away from vB, are there any other sites being naughty?

all of my sites seem to run fine. i like this update a lot. i just hope that the banking and payment services websites do not misbehave because some of them tend to use IE specific features. :(

I can't seem to use the Post Reply button either, but that issue has carried on through the previews.

EDIT: You have compatibility view enabled!

The day has finally come. Microsoft's first serious try to create a browser that doesn't s*ck in everything it does.

http://caniuse.com/ reports that IE9 handles 59% of the listed features, that is twice as much as IE8 can handle and we can assume that the website will get an update in the next couple of days because the support of some features is listed as unknown atm.

Let's hope for the best.

We are going to test drive some of our customer websites on Friday just to see how well they perform in the current beta. I bet it's like opening Pandora's box. :-D

FF4 beta 6 is out today too (not as originally planned).

Ie9 beta is way fatser compared to Firefox 4 beta 6. I really like the speed of Ie9. It renders pages nearly identical to Chrome. Can't easily say which one is faster. It surely has problems currently but for a firsyt beta it is pretty nice. If Firefox 4 will not improve further , i may switch to Ie9 as my secondary browser.

I am liking but i have to say i have found some issues that IE9 has with XF, mainly the editor and well padding (like every IE) LOL. But on a nice note it does load pages fast.

I'm using the IE9 Beta right now and overall, for beta software, it's quite good. Most of the issues I have with it are either cosmetic or other minor glitches that will almost assuredly be addressed in future beta releases. I do wish it had inline spell check, though. Although not built-in to Windows the way it is Mac OS X, both Firefox 4 and Chrome 7 have their own inline system, and IE9 could really benefit from its own.
