XF 1.5 How to copy and paste Excel Spreadsheets?

Hi all,
I am trying to create a thread using tables from Excel. When I copy the tables and try to pate on to XF, it does not transfer any table formatting, rather just disorganized text gets pasted. And I also noticed I cannot attach excel files.

Any advise?

You will need table bb code in order to create tables.
Even then you won't just be able to copy and paste.

You can allow the attachment type in the options in the ACP.

Thanks Brogan,

I frequently use excel files and want to show it on the thread. Not as a picture (jpeg/png) but as text. Does not necessarily have to be in tables, but do want to show in correct alignment as columns and rows.

Do you have any suggestions on how to go about this?

You can try using the code tags.

I'm not sure if doing so will faithfully retain the layout.

Looks a little complicated... like it involves more than just simple copy/paste from excel?
So does this mean all XF forums out there don't allow regular members to copy/paste tables on posts?

It requires bb code or some other custom solution.

That shows you how to embed a spreadsheet. You will need to create a bbcode so it may be worth creating a [gdocs] which basically uses the embed code but requires the ID part of the URL (i.e. the bit after the /document/d).

That is from my forum. I use an addon that allows you to copy/paste a table. Extremely simple but unfortunately that developer is no longer allowed here and no other developer has come up with the same solution.

That is unfortunate, I can really a easy and simple add-on. I've tried bbcode add-on but it's not perfect.

Just use an HTML bbcode and export it as HTML from Excel.

Then copy html file into xF posts via a html bb code mod?
