How change Header Background Color?

Head into your ACP and go to style properties and then go to the Header and Navigation section. Scroll down past the settings and expand the Header Logo row and change the colors in there (see screenshot below). Either put your new color in the section where it shows @xf-chromeBG or click the color swatch and choose your color from there.

Worked for me fine - I assume that it is the default style you're using, if not then it may be in your theme style settings. Give me a link to your site and I'll check the CSS there. I also note that you're using a 1.x version of XF my solution uses 2.2.12
