    Don't use custom BB Code.

I've just imported my phpBB forum to vB and it's not pretty.

It looks like someone dropped an IED into the post table [IMG]
    Dan and Dragonfly like this.

So the idea here is .... bbcode tags give migration problems ?
Is the problem that the Tags remain ? ie. [ wiki ] whatever [ / wiki ]

I wonder if the BBcode Manager could somehow enable Xenforo users to migrate to another forum (if they had to) in a more effective way ?

Won't wok unfortunately as phpBB appends a different hex code to each BB Code/post combination.

Regex will do it but that's voodoo as far as I'm concerned :D

I absolutely hate custom bb codes for the exact same reason. It's not something a table dump and some regex magic using sed/awk/perl/whatever cannot solve, but it's still annoying and, depending on the size of the post table, can be extremely time consuming.

Even the different usage of quote tags can be a pain when migrating to a different forum software.

Is it possible to minimize the damage associated with using BBcodes ?... in case, certain xenforo members switch to other products ... etc. ?

KingK made a bbcode manager that you can use. It lets you make your own bbcode and works great.
I've used 24 custom bbcode on wetalk network and converted them all.
