Yeah but this is America and as long as you follow the rules...what you have a gun for is your business. That is they way America works...if you are within the rules , it is your business and you have a right to keep your activities to yourself. It is in the constitution and the reason why you want a gun here is not important...what is important is that you know how to safely handle and store a firearm. It is not a problem....because if someone really wants a gun for a crime it is easier to get a gun illegally than legally and making them illegal will make more people illegal gun owners...because they are not giving them up therefor turning people who follow the rules a criminal for doing nothing different then they were doing the day before. True story.And therein lies the problem
Over here, you must have a valid reason for owning a gun or air rifle. The privilege is at the discression of the police, who have the power to revoke your weapon or license at any point if they deem you no longer have a good reason to own said weapon. They also have the power to request access to your home at any point to ensure your gun is stored securely and safely. The earnest falls onto the owner to show they are responsible.
If I went to renew my license today and my answer as to why would be "just cus" I would be denied. As it should be.
You do realize that no gun is deadlier than the next right? You do realize you can kill someone with a slingshot just as fast as a single gun shot right? Have you ever even fired a gun?
If you will allow the ban of all guns and accept slingshots as legal weapons, I'll take that.
It's just not reliable enough as the weak link is the gun owner.
If you knew anything about guns....you would know that a black powder or muzzle-loading firearm has a higher chance of accident (you do load one of those by using your hand and jamming a ram rod into the barrel where you have a charge and a projectile )....not to mention that the powder could be used as bomb making materials which you need to store in your home....so unless you are using a modern substitute you also could die from a static shock....
