XF 1.1 Group Promotions

Is there a way to get it to completely change your primary group, not just adding them to the group? It's annoying when trying to update their rank. So, we're going to manually need to shift through thousands of users to update their primary ranks to "Member" so their group title doesn't read "New Member" (which is the default Registered). We don't want them to just add "Member", want the primary group changed.

We were able to do this with vB and IPB completely. I'm hoping there's something I'm missing to do this.

The primary / secondary usage of your groups doesn't matter for user titles. It uses the display priority:

Admin CP -> Users -> List User Groups -> [click a group] -> Display Styling Priority

After changing the priorities of your groups you might need to run this to update existing users:

Admin CP -> Tools -> Rebuild Caches -> Rebuild User Caches
