ForumBioDiversity wants to make the switch to XenForo!

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum, but I'm the owner of ForumBiodiversity and I'm here to show my support to XenForo:

http://www.forumbiodiversity.com/showthread.php/40571-XenForo-victory-over-vBulletin! (I currently have a proxy blocker installed, so not everyone can properly view the thread)

^^ In that thread, I've written down the feedback about the two important plugins I want converted to XenForo, before I'll start converting my forum to XenForo. These are the plugins:

1) Post Thank You Hack:

http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=231666

2) UADisplay:

http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=295667 (thread currently deleted because of a dispute with the previous plugin author, however, the plugin is protected by the GNU GPL v3, so the thread/plugin should come back soon, in the meantime, I have the plugin available here)

Basically, I want to convert my forum into XenForo, but I want to keep the database history of these two plugins, and I want to use these two plugins on XenForo. My UADisplay is GPL v3, and I think some skilled developer here should get down to work on it right away and convert UADisplay to XenForo. The Thanks hack has been around for a long time, and surely, there should be a similar, compatible plugin for XenForo?

These are the only two plugins that are keeping me on vB4. My forum is fairly big, and it has been below 100,000 in Alexa's global ranking, so if I began using XenForo, it would be good for XF as a whole, because a lot of visitors would discover XenForo. My forum was hacked severely recently in February, and it's one of the reasons I want to ditch vBulletin for good; XenForo is not as vulnerable with exploits as vBulletin is.

I'd like to make the switch, but I need you developers here at XenForo to cooperate with me on this one. There are many vB licensed forum owners who also want to switch to XenForo, but they don't do it for the same reasons as me. I have three years of post thanks plugin history that I don't want to lose, but I also don't want it restricting me from choosing forum platform and supporting the competition.

Other than that, keep up the good work!

Standard/Core functionality of xenForo
Yes, but is it compatible with the Post Thanks database history? Like, if I convert to XenForo, will it understand this third party vBulletin plugin and convert into XenForo likes?

Add-on available, search the Resource Manager for 'browser detection'
Nah, not really. UADisplay is unique and it needs to be converted to XenForo.

Welcome to xF :)
Thanks! :)

From what I could read of that vB hack, it looked very similar to me. Detect the OS and browser, and then display that against each post.

Good. That means the post thanks hack is covered, and won't be a problem.

They're quite different though, trust me.

I think you should ask cclaerhout about the UADisplay. He's a very good coder and has experience in this area.
All I need is someone converting UADisplay into native XenForo code; the actual detection and support for more browsers/operating systems, I'll handle that. But apart from converting UADisplay into XenForo compatible code, I'll also need someone who can help out with importing UADisplay's database history into XenForo. And once that is done, I believe I'm all set. If cclaerhout wants to help out with that, he's more than welcome, as long as he agrees to do it under the GNU GPL v3 (because that's the license of UADisplay).

Of course, there are other plugins for vBulletin I want supported on XenForo as well, such as last online, members visited per 24 hours, advanced forum statistics (all of VSa's plugins are good), etc., etc., but these two are the most important ones since they have a database history with them.

Yeah, but hardly the same. UADisplay is quite superior in functionality.

Where is the 'guess my ethinicity/nationality' thread at on your site?

UADisplay is now back up again on vBulletin.org so please, have a look at it and let me know what you think

The only things I see it doing that the add-on already given is a) it's in postbit, and b) logo's with hover over.
I don't see the point of a) since it would be fluid and have to change when/if the user posts on a different browser/os (and you can just check most recent post for this info).

I would suggest you speak to the author directly of the above given xF similar add-on for the additional functionality, or (once you become a customer?) you can create a thread in the add-ons request forum.

Chris Deeming wrote a "who has visited in the last 24 hours" add-on:

http://xenforo.com/community/resources/who-has-visited-in-last-24-hours.1442/

What do you mean by "last online"? Ragtek wrote an add-on that replicates the "most ever users online" record, but that doesn't sound like what you're talking about.

But just in case, ragtek's add-on is here:

https://github.com/ragtek/MOU

It should be easy enough to plug your existing VB record into the DB field for that add-on.
