XF 2.0 Forum slow, too many requests

I have run a speed test and my forum resulted pretty slow

The main issue is too many requests:

Page size: 3.0 MB
Requests: 996

how can I reduce the requests? Most come from advertising and I can't really take off banners (I have only 3)

Any pieces of advice are welcome!

And those ads are what are definitely slowing down your site. Not a whole lot you can do without either removing them or contacting the ad providers and seeing how to streamline their ads so that you aren't getting all the redirects that are shown.

The weird thing is, even with adguard turned off, I'm only seeing what looks like a Google ad - and that infrequently.

One small thing, this image is 700KB: https://www.interfans.org/immagini/sfondoforum.jpg

If you put that in photoshop and converted it to say 2-10 colors alone, you can probably save it as a png and you might be able drop that file size in at least half.

For example this banner alone, calls about 200 redirects!!!

Yeah you'll get different ad networks doing goofy things. I've had runaway requests from some. Complain to them is the best you can do sometimes :/

Yes I will contact them but it is holiday here and they won't respond quick.
Anything I could do meanwhile? Get the code async?
